Stick'em: A new Show-Me Sound theatrical presentation
Show-Me Sound Organization has received a grant from the Fox Performing Arts Charitable Foundation (FPACF) to facilitate the production of our 2013 percussion theatre presentation, entitled "Stick'em." The show pays homage to the "Stick'em Crew" (the Normandy High School Viking Drum Line), which Show-Me Sound Organization’s Executive Director, Terry Artis, was a member of from 1979-1982 and provided instruction for from 1982-1990.
The stage production is a journey of the drum in a sense, in that it captures all of the influences, cultural and social, that made the Stick'em Crew a phenomenon of the times.
Stick'em showcases a broad array of percussion instrument, including, marching snares, multi-toms, bass drums, marimbas, vibraphones, orchestral bells, hand chimes, spoons, bucket drums, and many more.
The production features musical selections from genres, including: African traditional, country western, classical, soul, Jazz, R&B and rock-n-roll.
Show-Me Sound will be celebrating our 20th anniversary during 2013, so this is an exciting time for the organization. Stick'em helps the organization to celebrate of all of what percussion does for our youth.
The premier will be at the Sheldon Concert Hall on Tuesday evening, April 2. Tickets ago on sale on February 1 and are $12 advance and $15 at the door. Special group rate of $10 per ticket for 20 or more.
