Founded by Terry Artis on November 7, 2008 (3 days after the election of America’s first Black president), RiverCity Publications, Inc. is premised on being “An Independent Voice for a ‘New Generation’ of Black St. Louisans.” The publication company began release of its monthly paper, the RiverCity Examiner, with the January 2009 Inauguration/Martin Luther King, Jr. DREAM Edition. Since that time, the RiverCity Examiner has been published continuously on the last Thursday of each month.
    RiverCity Publications, Inc. is the first Disadvantage Business Enterprise (DBE) publication in the country (Certified by the Lambert St. Louis Air Port Authority). During its tenure, the publication also owns the distinction of being Missouri State’s first certified Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) vendor  by the Office of Equal Opportunity.
    As a true subscriber to Black independence, RiverCity Publications, Inc. contracts Black writers, web techs, design techs, distributors, photographers and videographers to carry forth its business in the community. 10,000 copies monthly cover St. Louis City and County through Black owned and operated businesses. RiverCity Examiner’s website offers video news, and eblast advertisement services that reach over 2,000 black subscribers each week.
